THE FUTURE OF BROADSTONE BAPTIST CHURCH.

Broadstone Baptist Church has been established for over eighty years and has occupied the current ‘Marley’ construction hall since the early seventies. They do say that necessity is the mother of invention and so whilst the building remains sound the significant growth in our weekly congregation prompted our prayers and vision for a new church on the existing land owned by the church.

PLANS FOR A COMPLETE NEW CHURCH CONCEIVED.

So it was that in 2010 the church membership took the decision to initiate the project for a pair of interlinked new buildings (Phases One & Two) using the space occupied by the present worship hall plus the steep sloping hillside that originally served as a side garden for the manse.  Designs were submitted, architects selected and Poole Council gave official planning permission.
INNOVATIVE DESIGN FOR THE COMMUNITY BUILDING (PHASE ONE)
For any architect and builder this previously dormant steep area of the site represented a tough challenge for development.  However undaunted they came up with a practical and versatile design with two levels comprising meeting rooms, a catering standard kitchen, an office for Pastor Tim, storerooms, a flower preparation room and toilets.

STATUS REPORT - THE PROJECT SO FAR
Thanks to the generous giving by the congregation and from Trustees we approached, the financial target for Phase One was raised by early 2014 and the builders Raymond Brown moved onto the site at the end of May.  Ten months later through God’s bountiful provision we have a wonderful new bright, spacious and welcoming community building for all ages to enjoy.  A temporary, link passageway has now been created so that the new building and the original church can be used as one without venturing outside.

PHASE ONE UP AND RUNNING NOW ONTO PHASE TWO.
In those four years since plans for the new Church Worship Hall were drawn up the congregation expanded further and a new larger building has been designed capable of accommodating a maximum of 200 people seated.  The plan view below shows the latest design with a large foyer / reception area linking the two buildings.

The hall itself will have a large full width extendable screen so the hall can be divided into smaller areas to suit meetings during the week as well as the larger Sunday services.  Funding for Phase Two is well underway and we have faith that once again if it is in the Lord’s will then in his timing we will meet our targets.

Illustrations highlight how two buildings complement each other giving Baileys Hill, York Road a new look for the future. We are proud to be part of Broadstone and look forward to playing our part in growing the Christian  community in the years to come.
