How to use Biblical Prophecy in a simple and structured way to share your faith
Some of us may have used the ‘Roman Road’ using seven verse/s from the book of Romans to share the gospel. The references can be written on a small card (see summary at the end) and kept in a wallet and can either be given to someone; or used as a tool for witnessing. In the same way, we can use a Scripture or two about the Lord’s birth, John the Baptist as a forerunner, the Lord’s miraculous ministry and speaking in parables, His crucifixion, resurrection and ascension in the form of a timeline to share our faith. On the other side of the card, you can list the seven references from the Roman Road (again see summary at the end). This can be used to make a tract to give out to others.
If your Bible has margin references, it is worthwhile circling the New Testament references and if possible, committing the references to memory. In the same way, with the Roman Road, writing R1,2,3, 4, 5, 6,7 next to the corresponding verse/s in your Bible will help you to find it quickly. They will prove invaluable for sharing the Scriptures. Whilst phones and electronic devices are useful for finding these passages, having a Bible to hand is of great benefit for having an orientation of Scripture and linking passages with other ones.
1)His birth
“But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old, From [
a]everlasting.” (Micah 5:2) (Matthew 2:6)
‘Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.’ (Isaiah 7:14) (Matthew 1:23)
2) His forerunner
“Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me.” (Malachi 3:1) (Mark 2:2)
The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make straight [
b]in the desert A highway for our God.” (Isaiah 40:3) (Mark 2:3)
3)His healing ministry
‘Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing.’ (Isaiah 35:5-6) (Matt. 11:5)
4) His speaking in parables
‘And He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand;
Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’10 “Make the heart of this people dull,
And their ears heavy, And shut their eyes; Lest they see with their eyes, And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart, And return and be healed.” (Isaiah 6:9-10) (Matthew 13:13-15)
5) His Crucifixion
16 For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me.
f] pierced My hands and My feet; 17 I can count all My bones.
They look and stare at Me.
18 They divide My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.’ (Psalm 22:16-18) (John 19:36-37; 18:23-24)
6) His Resurrection
For You will not leave my soul in [
e]Sheol, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to [f
]see corruption. (Psalm 16:10) (Acts 2:27)
7) His Ascension
‘You have ascended on high, You have led captivity captive;
You have received gifts among men, Even from the rebellious,
That the Lord God might dwell there.’ (Psalm 68:18) (Ephesians 4:8)
